Identifying Audience: Author Groups and Writing Workshops

State Library staffers traveled to Avondale Civic Center Library last Saturday to promote the OneBookAZ contest and Reading Arizona/SELF-e to the West Valley Writers Workshop. Both presenters were impressed and delighted by the wide range of people, interests, and levels of experience represented that afternoon. It was an enlightening afternoon with the perfect crowd for receiving feedback on the projects.

Local authors groups and writing workshops are great places to market the ebook platform. This group was the perfect audience for promoting our self-publishing – familiar with the publishing landscape, passionate about books, and committed to their craft. They are also library users. The West Valley Writers Workshop is organized through A quick search for “writers” on Meetup shows 14 writers’ groups within 25 miles of Phoenix. Tapping into these local, organic organizations through sites like Meetup and Facebook are a great way to reach content creators and avid book lovers.

Many thanks to the West Valley Writers Workshop!
